Angel Reese is traded from Chicago Sky to Atlanta Dream.

One of the WNBA’s standout players, Angel Reese, is set for a new chapter after being traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream. The deal, confirmed Monday, sees Chicago receive first-round draft picks in 2027 and 2028, along with a swap of second-round selections in 2028.

Reese departs Chicago after two impressive seasons, during which she earned All-Star honors twice and led the league in rebounding both years. The Sky’s general manager acknowledged her impact, praising her record-setting start and contributions to the team while expressing confidence in her continued success elsewhere.

Selected seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Reese quickly made her mark by earning All-Rookie team recognition. Before turning professional, she rose to national prominence in college basketball, first at University of Maryland and later at Louisiana State University, where she led LSU to the 2023 national championship. That title game victory over a team led by Caitlin Clark helped spark a high-profile rivalry that has carried into the WNBA.

Despite Reese’s individual success, Chicago struggled as a team, missing the playoffs in both of her seasons. Even after a coaching change ahead of the 2025 campaign, results declined further. Late last year, Reese openly voiced frustration with the team’s direction, making it clear she wanted progress and would consider other options if improvements didn’t materialize.

She now joins an Atlanta side that has reached the playoffs in each of the past three seasons, though it has not advanced beyond the first round since 2018. The Dream finished atop the Eastern Conference in 2025 but were eliminated in the postseason.

Reese enters the final guaranteed year of her rookie contract, with Atlanta holding an option for 2027. Across 64 career games, she has averaged 14.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, underlining her status as one of the league’s most productive young stars.
