Mikaela Shiffrin places 22nd in World Cup Finals super-G as German skier cuts into overall lead.

Mikaela Shiffrin finished 22nd in the super-G at the World Cup Finals in Lillehammer, Norway, as Emma Aicher narrowed the gap in the race for the overall Crystal Globe.

Aicher delivered a strong fourth-place performance, cutting Shiffrin’s lead to just 45 points and intensifying the battle for the season title. Despite the pressure, the German skier emphasized staying focused on her performance rather than the standings, noting that her season has already exceeded expectations.

Sofia Goggia claimed victory in the super-G, clocking 1:29.23 to secure her 10th career win in the discipline. She overcame early mistakes with a powerful finish, posting the fastest times in the final sectors to also seal her first super-G Crystal Globe.

Corinne Suter placed second, 0.32 seconds behind Goggia, while Kira Weidle-Winkelmann edged Aicher for third by the narrowest of margins just one hundredth of a second.

Shiffrin, competing in only her third super-G since late 2023, finished well outside the points in 22nd, nearly three seconds off the winning pace. She admitted expectations were low but took encouragement from aspects of her run as she continues rebuilding form in the discipline.

Among the Americans, Keely Cashman led the team in 10th, followed by Breezy Johnson in 14th and Mary Bocock in 20th.

With only the slalom and giant slalom races remaining, the overall title race remains wide open. Shiffrin has dominated slalom this season, but Aicher’s recent consistency especially in technical events keeps the outcome uncertain heading into the final races.
