Iron Maidenโs new documentary, Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition, is set to hit UK cinemas on May 7. The feature-length film is directed by Malcolm Venville (Churchill at War) and produced by Dominic Freeman (Spirits in the Forest โ A Depeche Mode Film). It chronicles the bandโs five-decade evolution, tracing their rise from Steve Harrisโ modest East London beginnings to commanding stadium audiences around the globe.
Drawing on extensive access to the bandโs official archives, the documentary includes exclusive interviews with Harris, Bruce Dickinson, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, Janick Gers, Nicko McBrain and longtime manager Rod Smallwood. It explores the bandโs steadfast artistic philosophy and their enduring bond with a fiercely loyal international fanbase. Contributions also come from prominent admirers such as actor Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich of Metallica, and Chuck D of Public Enemy.
Founded in East London in 1975, Iron Maiden have become one of rock musicโs most influential and resilient acts. Over 50 years, they have released 17 studio albums, sold more than 100 million records, and played close to 2,500 shows across 64 countries.
The film premieres while the band is in the midst of its two-year Run For Your Lives world tour, highlighted by a celebrated homecoming concert at London Stadium home to West Ham United, the club long supported by Harris just miles from where the band first formed.
Cinema tickets go on sale March 18. This summer, their UK schedule continues with the debut of EddFest at Knebworth Park on July 11. The custom-designed festival will feature โMaiden World,โ including a dedicated stage for artists connected to the band, a fairground, a museum marking their 50th anniversary, and an expanded bar experience.
Smallwood explained that after last yearโs major UK shows, the band wanted a markedly different concept for 2026. Choosing Knebworth allows them the scale and flexibility unavailable in traditional stadium settings, enabling them to deliver a groundbreaking immersive experience for fans.
