Jorge Martin gives first response to 2027 Yamaha MotoGP reports.

Jorge Martin comments on reports linking him to Yamaha for 2027

Jorge Martin has broken his silence on speculation linking him with a move to Yamaha for the 2027 MotoGP season, as the reigning world champion prepares to enter the final year of his contract with Aprilia.

The Spaniard’s time with Aprilia has been far from smooth. A series of injuries last season put significant strain on the relationship, particularly after Martin attempted to trigger an exit clause to leave early and pursue a potential switch to Honda for 2026. Although he ultimately committed to seeing out his deal, his name has remained central to rumours surrounding the 2027 rider market.

Reports intensified last week suggesting Fabio Quartararo had agreed to join Honda, which fuelled talk that Martin could step into the vacant Yamaha seat. Speaking at the Sepang test where he was present but unable to ride following two off-season surgeries, Martin acknowledged the rumours but played them down.

He said he was aware of the speculation and noted how early the rumours had started, adding that such discussions are common from a fan’s perspective. However, Martin stressed that his presence at the test was a clear sign of his focus on Aprilia, insisting his priority is the 2026 season and contributing to the development of the project. While he confirmed that his management team is working on his long-term future, he said there is no set deadline and that the situation will unfold naturally as the market continues to move quickly.

Martin also provided an update on his physical condition. Aprilia confirmed in January that he would miss the Sepang test after undergoing two operations late last year to address lingering injuries. He revealed that doctors initially wanted to postpone the procedures until early 2026, but he pushed to have them done in 2025 to put a difficult season behind him.

After enduring six surgeries during the 2025 campaign, Martin admitted it had been an extremely challenging period, often racing through pain. Despite not being fully fit yet, he said he is finally seeing progress and is confident he will return to full strength. Reflecting on the ordeal, he added that the experience has only reinforced his determination to fight back and return to winning form.
