World number one Judd Trump has booked his place in the German Masters semi-finals, where he will face Ali Carter, after edging past Xiao Guodong 5-3 in a high-quality quarter-final that featured four century breaks.
Trump surged into an early 2-0 advantage with impressive runs of 107 and 105, but Xiao responded in style. The Chinese player hit back with breaks of 104 and 120 to level the match, then moved in front by clinching the fifth frame.
However, Trump regained control when it mattered most. He reeled off the final three frames to seal victory, with Xiao failing to register a point in two of those decisive frames.
Elsewhere, Neil Robertson cruised into the last four with a commanding 5-1 win over Jimmy Robertson, setting up a semi-final clash with Shaun Murphy. Murphy delivered a similarly emphatic performance earlier in the day, beating Kyren Wilson 5-1.
Ali Carter also progressed comfortably, defeating Stuart Bingham 5-1. Carter’s standout moment came in the fourth frame, where he compiled a superb break of 137 to underline his strong form heading into his meeting with Trump.
The German Masters semi-final line-up is now complete, with Trump, Carter, Robertson and Murphy all through to the final stages of the tournament.
