Flachau women’s World Cup slalom start list & program: classic night race showdown.

The women’s World Cup slalom returns to Flachau for one of alpine skiing’s most iconic night races, set against the backdrop of Austria’s passionate ski culture. The event is renowned for its intense atmosphere and routinely delivers high drama at the sharp end of the discipline.

Mikaela Shiffrin continues to be the benchmark in women’s slalom, but her dominance has been tested more frequently this season. Camille Rast has applied sustained pressure, pushing Shiffrin hard in Semmering before defeating her outright in Kranjska Gora. While Shiffrin remains the favourite in Flachau, her victory is no longer a foregone conclusion. That increased competitiveness is evident in the season statistics, with seven different racers from four nations already standing on slalom podiums.

Flachau also marks notable comebacks for two national programs. The Stifel U.S. Ski Team welcomes back Katie Hensien, strengthening a squad led by Shiffrin. Alpine Canada, meanwhile, is reinforced by the return of Ali Nullmeyer, one of the country’s most accomplished slalom skiers, who is back on the World Cup circuit following injury.

This season’s slalom results underline Shiffrin’s consistency at the top, with multiple victories across Levi, Gurgl, Copper Mountain, Courchevel, and Semmering. Rast’s win in Kranjska Gora stands out as the lone race where Shiffrin has been beaten, while skiers such as Lara Colturi, Wendy Holdener, Emma Aicher, and Lena Dürr have featured prominently on the podium.

In the overall slalom standings, Shiffrin holds a commanding lead on points, with Rast clearly established as her closest challenger. Colturi, Holdener, and Katharina Truppe round out the top five, but all trail the leader by a significant margin.

The opening run in Flachau features a strong elite start group, including Holdener, Truppe, Dürr, Colturi, Paula Moltzan, Rast, and Shiffrin, who starts last among the top seven as the current slalom leader.

The U.S. team fields a deep roster alongside Shiffrin and Moltzan, including A.J. Hurt, Katie Hensien, Elisabeth Bocock, Nina O’Brien, and Liv Moritz. Canada’s entry is led by Laurence St-Germain and Ali Nullmeyer, with Amelia Smart and Kiki Alexander also starting. Great Britain is represented by Victoria Palla. Course setting duties are split between Goran Raćki for the first run and Žan Špilar for the second.

The race is scheduled as a night slalom with two runs, and live coverage is available in the United States via Peacock, in Canada on CBC Sports, and in Great Britain on Discovery+.
