Notre Dame football suffered another roster loss Thursday night, with defensive lineman Armel Mukam deciding to enter the transfer portal rather than remain in South Bend, according to CBS Sports reporter Matt Zenitz.
Mukam arrived at Notre Dame as a highly regarded four-star recruit from Virginia but was unable to fully establish himself during his three seasons with the Fighting Irish. Over that span, he totaled 11 tackles and one forced fumble, contributing in a limited role.
Although he didn’t produce eye-catching numbers, Mukam did see regular action this past season and still possesses the physical tools to make an impact elsewhere. Now a redshirt sophomore, he will carry two years of remaining eligibility into his next stop.
Originally from Canada, Mukam has a wide range of potential destinations as he searches for a program that can offer a larger role. Notre Dame supporters wish him well as he continues his football career beyond the Irish program.
