I hate letting people down – O’Sullivan on withdrawals from recent…

Seven-time world snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has issued an apology for pulling out of recent tournaments, explaining that he needed to focus on his health and wellbeing.

The 49-year-old Englishman was set to return at the Welsh Open this week after skipping the German Masters, the Masters, and Championship League matches. However, he withdrew on Tuesday, just before his first-round match against Wales’ Jamie Clarke.

Addressing his decision, O’Sullivan said:

“I’ve been trying to prioritise my health and wellbeing, which sometimes means making last-minute decisions not to play. It’s never easy, and I hate letting people down.”

He acknowledged the disappointment of fans who had purchased tickets to see him compete and offered a sincere apology:

“I know many people were frustrated when I withdrew from recent events, so I just wanted to say sorry. I’m doing my best to get back to form, and I truly appreciate your support and understanding.”

O’Sullivan’s next scheduled appearance is at the World Open in Yushan, China, later this month.

The snooker legend has been absent from the World Snooker Tour (WST) since January, when he withdrew midway through his Championship League group matches after a disappointing performance, winning only one of five matches and breaking his cue in frustration.

Despite his recent struggles, O’Sullivan remains focused on recovery and returning to his best form, with hopes of a strong comeback at the World Open.
