SHAKOPEE, Minn. โ€” Two major concert acts โ€” Iron Maiden and 5 Seconds of Summer โ€” have been announced as the inaugural big-ticket shows for the forthcoming outdoor venue, Mystic Lake Amphitheater, slated to open in summer 2026 near the Twin Cities.

The 19,000-capacity facility, just north of the resort and casino complex operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and managed by Live Nation Entertainment, officially revealed its first bookings this week. 5 Seconds of Summer will headline on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, followed by Iron Maiden on Saturday, September 19, 2026, with support from Megadeth.

A Venue Built for the Metroโ€™s Music Future

The amphitheatre represents a major addition to the Minneapolisโ€“St. Paul live-music scene. With its construction under way and an estimated annual economic impact of about $138 million and creation of more than 700 jobs, it is positioned to become a premier concert destination. According to developers, the venue offers premium acoustics, excellent sight-lines and a covered lower bowl to deliver an elevated outdoor-event experience.

Shakopee Mayor Matt Lehman called the new venue a โ€œmajor milestoneโ€ for the city and the regionโ€™s entertainment future.

Two Very Different Acts, One Big Statement

The pairing of 5 Seconds of Summer and Iron Maiden signals the venueโ€™s intent to serve a wide cross-section of music fans.

5 Seconds of Summer, the Australian pop-rock quartet that rose from YouTube and boy-band roots to full-fledged arena acts, will bring their current momentum to the Twin Cities when they perform in July. Their date is among the first confirmed for the venue.

Iron Maiden, meanwhile, bring decades of heavy-metal legacy, theatrical shows and global touring experience. Their September show โ€” part of the โ€œRun For Your Livesโ€ World Tour โ€” will mark a significant moment for the new venue, offering a dramatic and high-energy performance.

For Live Nation and the venueโ€™s backers, these bookings serve as a statement: the Amphitheater is ready to host both mainstream and niche heavy hitters alike, and do so in a setting built for big-scale production.

Tickets and What to Expect

Tickets for both concerts will go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 10 a.m. (with presales beginning a few days earlier). More show announcements will follow, with the full 2026 summer season still taking shape.

Venue officials encourage fans to plan ahead: given the nature of the acts, high demand is anticipated. Additionally, with the venue newly built and infrastructure still being finalized, concert-goers are advised to review parking, shuttle and access guidelines once available.

What This Means for the Region

For the Twin Cities metro area, the new venue addresses a longstanding gap: despite its major market size, the region has lacked a dedicated large-scale outdoor amphitheater with the capacity and technical specifications to match top-tier tours. The arrival of Mystic Lake Amphitheater changes that. Development partner Swervo Development says the facility will also help catalyze surrounding entertainment and hospitality growthโ€”including hotels, restaurants and retail near the venue site.

For fans of live music in Minnesota, the announcement underscores that the region is once again a destination stop for major touring acts โ€” and perhaps reflective of change in how mid-sized markets engage with summer-tour schedules.

Looking Ahead

While the July and September dates are already locked in, the full lineup remains a work in progress. Organizers say more 2026 shows will be unveiled soon, and concert-goers should keep an eye on the venueโ€™s official channels for updates. With its strategic location, advanced amenities and major anchor acts, Mystic Lake Amphitheater appears set to become one of the Twin Citiesโ€™ most important new cultural venues.

For fans of either 5 Seconds of Summer or Iron Maiden, as well as the wider music-loving community in Minneapolisโ€“St. Paul, the countdown to summer 2026 has officially begun.
