To mark the 50th anniversary of Physical Graffiti (originally released in 1975), Led Zeppelin and their label have rolled out a series of high‑profile releases and collector’s items, combining archival live material, deluxe vinyl editions, and a fan‑oriented promo single reissue. The campaign blends nostalgia with fresh presentation, making the milestone more than a simple reissue.

New Live EP: Four performances, newly pressed

On September 12, 2025, Led Zeppelin will release a Live E.P. (on 180‑gram 12″ vinyl, CD, and digital formats). This EP features four live tracks tied to Physical Graffiti’s era, pressed to vinyl/CD for the first time: “In My Time of Dying” and “Trampled Under Foot” from the Earl’s Court shows in 1975, plus “Sick Again” and “Kashmir” from the 1979 Knebworth concerts. These live renditions had been made available on the 2003 Led Zeppelin DVD but now appear in standalone audio format across physical and streaming platforms.

The Live EP’s vinyl has Side One devoted to the 1975 Earl’s Court performances, Side Two to the 1979 Knebworth entries. The decision to frame the anniversary with a focused EP rather than a sprawling box set suggests a curated approach, spotlighting emblematic live versions tied to Physical Graffiti.

Updated Deluxe Edition

Also releasing on September 12 is an updated 50th Anniversary version of the Physical Graffiti Deluxe Edition (3LP set). This edition retains the remastered double album plus the “Companion Audio” disc (from the 2015 reissue) and is augmented by a bonus replica promotional poster (sized 443 mm × 610 mm). The vinyl is 180‑gram black pressing. Together, the Live EP and the deluxe album insert packaging and new touches aimed at collectors.

Replica “Trampled Under Foot” promo single for RSD Black Friday

In addition to the anniversary pair in September, a special release is slated for Record Store Day Black Friday, November 28, 2025: a 1:1 replica of the UK 1975 promotional 7″ single of “Trampled Under Foot” (with “Black Country Woman” as its B‑side). The audio is drawn from the Physical Graffiti 2015 remaster (as produced by Jimmy Page). Lacquers were cut at Metropolis Studios in London. The release is limited: only 6,100 copies will be produced. It will be available in stores only on that November date.

This little 7″ is specially designed for collectors and fans of vintage promotional materials, bridging past marketing aesthetics with modern high-fidelity mastering.

Significance and reception

The 50th‑anniversary program delivers a blend of archival value and tasteful packaging. The Live EP, in particular, offers officially pressed audio versions of performances long available only in video/DVD format. Critics and fans see this as a way to recontextualize Physical Graffiti in the live domain. Meanwhile, the promo single reissue is a nod to vintage single culture and serious collectors. The limited run underscores its exclusivity and draws attention to Record Store Day as a key moment in music retail culture.

Overall, the anniversary strategy is less about troves of outtakes or unheard studio versions, and more about elevating select live versions, polished remasters, and memorabilia that evoke Physical Graffiti’s footprint in rock lore. The combination of the September releases and the Black Friday promo gives fans multiple entry points for celebrating this landmark album’s golden anniversary.
