Pink Reveals E. Coli Infection While on Vacation, Shares Photo with IV and Wine: ‘This is Normal’
Pop icon Pink is known for her powerhouse vocals, daring stage performances, and candid nature — and she’s once again proving her authenticity. The 45-year-old singer took to social media this week to reveal an unexpected health scare while vacationing, disclosing that she contracted E. coli, but still managed to maintain her sense of humor.
In a photo shared on her Instagram account, the “Just Give Me a Reason” singer is seen reclining with an IV in her arm and a glass of red wine in her hand. Her caption, equal parts sarcastic and matter-of-fact, read:
“When you’ve contracted E. coli on vacation and your IV cocktail pairs nicely with a Pinot. This is normal.”
While it’s unclear where the singer was vacationing or how she contracted the bacterial infection, fans and followers quickly flooded the post with concern and support. Many praised her resilience and ability to find humor even in unpleasant circumstances. Some commented on her “unshakeable spirit,” while others joked about making “IV and wine” the latest wellness trend.
E. coli, or Escherichia coli, is a bacteria that lives in the intestines of people and animals. While most strains are harmless, certain types can cause severe foodborne illness, leading to symptoms like stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), nausea, and vomiting. Contaminated food or water is a common source of infection, especially while traveling.
Pink didn’t share whether she required hospitalization or if she’s recovering at home or abroad, but the presence of the IV suggests she was receiving fluid replacement or antibiotics. Despite the discomfort, she seemed in high spirits — a trait that has long endeared her to fans.
This isn’t the first time Pink has opened up about her health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she revealed that both she and her son Jameson tested positive for the virus, describing it as one of the most challenging experiences she’s faced as a mother. She also suffered a fractured ankle in 2020, and in 2018, famously battled the flu while performing at the Super Bowl.
Fans say her willingness to show both the glamorous and unglamorous sides of her life is part of what makes her so relatable. “Pink is the most real celeb out there,” one fan wrote. “Even sick, she’s sipping wine and keeping it honest.”
While there’s been no official statement from Pink’s team, it appears the star is on the mend. Her light-hearted post suggests she’s feeling better — or at least well enough to poke fun at her situation.
Pink is currently not on tour, and the downtime may have offered her a rare opportunity to relax — even if that included a bout with E. coli. For now, fans are wishing her a speedy recovery and raising a glass (hopefully without an IV) in solidarity.
