Awful: WVU running back Jahiem White  has appealed for help after his car filled with valuable belongings was stolen while he moved house.

West Virginia University running back Jahiem White is reeling after a devastating theft that occurred during one of life’s most stressful moments — moving house. White, a rising star for the Mountaineers, took to social media this week to appeal for help and information after his brand new BMW and a number of valuable personal belongings were stolen.

According to sources close to the situation, the incident happened late last night when thieves broke into White’s residence during the moving process. The intruders gained access to his home, located off-campus, and found the keys to his car — a recently purchased BMW. The vehicle, which was reportedly filled with electronics, clothing, and other essential belongings White had packed for his move, was taken without a trace.

“It’s just heartbreaking,” White said in a statement shared online. “This isn’t just about a car — it’s about everything I’ve worked hard for. They took things that can’t be replaced.”

White, who had been moving between residences due to the upcoming season preparations, was caught off guard. Friends and teammates say he had only stepped away briefly when the theft occurred. The break-in appeared to be targeted, and authorities are currently investigating security footage from nearby homes in hopes of identifying the suspects.

Former WVU coach Rich Rodriguez, who remains a close mentor to White, expressed his frustration over the incident and called on the community to support the young athlete.

“This is just awful. Jahiem is a great young man with a bright future ahead of him,” Rodriguez said in a phone interview. “He’s worked hard for everything he has, and to see him go through something like this — it’s just not right. We’ve got to do better as a community to protect our own.”

Rodriguez went on to highlight the importance of supporting student-athletes, especially those transitioning to life on their own while balancing demanding schedules. “These kids deal with more than people realize. Jahiem was just trying to move and prepare for the season — the next thing he knows, everything’s gone. It’s infuriating.”

White has since filed a police report and is urging anyone in the Morgantown area who may have seen suspicious activity around the time of the theft to come forward. He also asked local businesses with surveillance systems to review any relevant footage.

“This situation doesn’t define me,” White added. “But I hope it opens people’s eyes to what can happen even when you’re doing everything right. I’m just focused on getting back to work and being ready for the season.”

Fans and teammates have rallied around White, offering support through social media and encouraging donations to help replace what was lost. As authorities continue their investigation, the Mountaineers community is standing strong behind one of its own, hoping for justice — and the safe return of White’s property.
