Eugene, OR – July 30, 2025 — The spirit of American track and field is set to shine once again as Eugene, Oregon, prepares to host the 2025 Toyota USATF Outdoor and Para National Championships. From July 31 to August 3, Hayward Field—the legendary venue affectionately known as the “heart of tracktown USA”—will welcome the nation’s top athletes in a four-day celebration of elite competition and inclusive excellence.

In a major announcement that has energized the lead-up to the Championships, Netflix revealed it will release a new documentary series titled The Heart of America, a powerful chronicle of the sport’s resurgence and cultural significance across the United States. The timing of the release, which lands amid the height of the competitive season, underscores the sport’s growing momentum on and off the track.

The documentary promises an intimate look into the lives, struggles, and triumphs of American athletes—both able-bodied and para-athletes—highlighting their journeys toward national and international stages. Featuring exclusive footage from past meets, behind-the-scenes training, and personal interviews, The Heart of America aims to reintroduce track and field to mainstream audiences and inspire a new generation of fans.

“Eugene has always been more than a host city—it’s a living part of our sport’s legacy,” said Max Siegel, CEO of USA Track & Field. “With the return of the Outdoor and Para National Championships to Hayward Field and the release of Netflix’s new series, we’re witnessing a moment that honors the past while pushing the sport forward.”

The Championships are expected to draw thousands of spectators, including fans, coaches, and scouts, all eager to see Olympic hopefuls, national champions, and emerging talent compete across a full slate of events. This year’s meet is particularly significant, as it marks the final major domestic competition before many athletes begin international campaigns in the lead-up to the 2026 World Athletics Championships.

Para-athletes will also be featured prominently, with full integration across the four-day schedule. This continued commitment to inclusion not only reflects the evolving landscape of U.S. athletics but also reinforces Hayward Field’s role as a stage for all competitors, regardless of physical ability.

Netflix’s The Heart of America is expected to amplify that message even further. By spotlighting the people behind the performances, the series could serve as both a cultural moment and a catalyst for renewed national interest in track and field.

Whether in the stands, on the track, or from living rooms across the country, all eyes are on Eugene as America’s heartbeat for track and field quickens once more.
