U.S. Olympic Champions Noah Lyles and Grant Holloway to Lead 2025 adidas Atlanta City Games Kickoff Before Start of Main Events

ATLANTA – March 27, 2025 — The stage is set for a thrilling kickoff to the 2025 adidas Atlanta City Games, and leading the charge will be none other than U.S. Olympic champions Noah Lyles and Grant Holloway. As the city gears up for the main events on Saturday, May 17, these two track and field superstars will headline the festivities, drawing attention from fans across the country and beyond.

The adidas Atlanta City Games is unlike any other track and field competition in the U.S. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Piedmont Park, the meet transforms Atlanta’s urban landscape into a high-energy street competition on an elevated straightaway track. This free-to-the-public event combines world-class athleticism with a community-first atmosphere, showcasing both Olympic legends and rising stars.

Noah Lyles, the reigning 100m Olympic Champion and 200m American record-holder, is returning to the Atlanta City Games after a spectacular showing in 2024, where he tied the American best in the 150m with a blazing 14.41 seconds — the second-fastest time ever recorded in the event. Lyles, widely regarded as the face of U.S. sprinting, brings not only speed but star power, charisma, and a message of inspiration for young athletes across the country.

Joining him is Grant Holloway, the Olympic gold medalist in the 110m hurdles and three-time world champion in the same event. Known for his consistency, Holloway holds the indoor world record in the 60m hurdles and has dominated sprint hurdles globally for nearly a decade. At the 2024 edition of the event, he clocked a world-leading time of 13.07 seconds, thrilling fans and reinforcing his status as one of the most dominant hurdlers in history.

The kickoff portion of the City Games is designed to build momentum before the professional finals begin later in the day. Lyles and Holloway will take part in early marquee sprints and interactive sessions with fans, adding excitement and energy to the morning events. Organizers say this pre-main event showcase is meant to bridge the gap between grassroots athletes and global champions — a hallmark of the Atlanta City Games.

The day will also feature youth races, including the Kilometer Kids Dash, high school meet-of-champions relays, and community mile runs. Later, top professional athletes from around the world — including competitors from Kenya, Great Britain, and the Caribbean — will take the stage in sprint, hurdle, and field events. NBC will air the event live at 3 p.m. ET, with Peacock providing streaming access.

According to Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club, “This event brings the best of global track and field right into the heart of our city. There’s no better way to start the day than with Noah Lyles and Grant Holloway showing our next generation what’s possible.”

As the countdown to May 17 continues, Atlanta is ready to welcome the world of track and field — and two of its brightest stars — to one of the most exciting and accessible events on the calendar.
