Another Notre Dame and Penn State showdown is brewing over elite QB prospect.

Notre Dame–Penn State duel heats up for next star quarterback.

One of the more intriguing trends in recent Notre Dame football recruiting cycles is how often the Irish have gone head-to-head with Penn State. That rivalry is heating up again, this time over Teddy Jarrard one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2027 class.

Like many elite recruits in his class, Jarrard is planning to make an early college commitment, even though the early signing period isn’t until December 2026. He’s expected to announce his decision later this week.

Jarrard’s final list includes powerhouse programs like Notre Dame, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State but it appears the battle is coming down to the Irish and the Nittany Lions.

A recent visit to Penn State left a strong impression on Jarrard, especially after he praised James Franklin, saying “he’s different” one of the strongest endorsements he’s given any coach so far. Still, many recruiting experts consider Notre Dame the favorite.

If Marcus Freeman can win another recruiting duel against Franklin, he’ll land a highly talented quarterback. As a sophomore at North Cobb Christian, Jarrard completed 71.8% of his passes, racking up 2,647 yards, 31 touchdowns, and just 5 interceptions.
