July 7, 2025 — Steve Harris, legendary Iron Maiden bassist and founder of British Lion, has officially announced a special remix edition of the band’s celebrated album The Burning, set for release later this year. Titled The Burning (2020 Remix – Best Of), the album will feature remixed and remastered tracks from the original 2020 release, promising fans a refreshed, more powerful sonic experience.

British Lion, known for their melodic hard rock and classic heavy metal edge, have carved a unique identity outside of Iron Maiden’s colossal shadow. The Burning, the band’s second studio album, originally released in January 2020, was met with critical acclaim for its blend of classic rock elements and modern production. Now, with the announcement of this remix edition, the band is offering fans a new way to experience the album—updated for today’s audio standards and reimagined with additional flair.

In a press release, Steve Harris said:

“We’re really proud of the original album, but over the last few years, we’ve wanted to revisit it with fresh ears. With the advancements in mixing technology and the way we’ve grown as a band, it felt like the right time to go back into the studio and give these songs a new life.”

The remix was handled by long-time collaborator Tony Newton, who has worked extensively with Iron Maiden on their live albums and video productions. Newton and Harris worked together to enhance the dynamics of the record, bringing out deeper textures in the guitar work and elevating Richard Taylor’s vocals to new heights. The rhythm section—always a highlight in any Harris project—has also been sharpened for added punch and clarity.

Among the fan-favorite tracks featured on the 2020 Remix – Best Of are “Lightning,” “Spit Fire,” “Bible Black,” and the emotionally charged “Land of the Perfect People.” Early reports suggest that the remix breathes new energy into these songs, offering both long-time fans and newcomers a compelling reason to revisit The Burning.

The announcement follows British Lion’s recent European summer tour, which concluded with a sold-out show in London. The band has steadily built a strong live following thanks to their high-energy performances and the pedigree of its members. In addition to Steve Harris and vocalist Richard Taylor, the current lineup includes guitarists David Hawkins and Grahame Leslie, and drummer Simon Dawson.

The The Burning (2020 Remix – Best Of) will be available on CD, vinyl, and digital platforms. Pre-orders are set to launch next week, with limited edition colored vinyl and signed bundles available through the band’s official website.
