July 5, 2025 — With the 50th anniversary of legendary German metal band Accept on the horizon, the group is gearing up for a powerful year of celebration — starting with the release of a newly remixed version of their 2021 title track, “Too Mean to Die.” The track will be available via Nuclear Blast Records on July 15, 2025.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Kay and Alan Dixon of Canada’s The Metal Voice, guitarist and founding member Wolf Hoffmann opened up about the upcoming remix, what led to its creation, and how it fits into Accept’s legacy and future plans.

> “The song always had a strong message — that sense of defiance and power,” Hoffmann told The Metal Voice. “But we felt it deserved a fresh take. We wanted to bring out more depth, more punch, and give it a new sonic life.”

The remix, Hoffmann explained, is not a radical departure but rather an enhancement of what already worked. Fans can expect a clearer, more dynamic sound, thanks to updated production techniques and a modernized mix. The guitars are heavier, the drums hit harder, and the overall energy has been amplified without sacrificing the original attitude.

> “It’s like polishing a diamond,” Hoffmann added. “You don’t change the shape, but you make it shine brighter.”

Originally released in 2021, Too Mean to Die was a critical and fan favorite — praised for its classic Accept-style riffing, powerful vocals, and aggressive rhythm section. With the remix, the band hopes to not only honor the track but also introduce it to a new generation of listeners who may be discovering Accept for the first time.

The timing is no coincidence. As the band approaches its five-decade milestone in 2026, Hoffmann says they are reflecting on their legacy while actively creating new experiences for fans.

> “This remix is the start of something bigger,” he said. “We’re working on a 50th-anniversary tour, and there’s talk of a special box set, unreleased material — all kinds of things. This is a way of kicking that off.”

When asked about fan expectations and the pressure of revisiting a well-loved song, Hoffmann remained confident.

> “Accept fans are passionate. They pay attention to every detail. So we knew we had to get it right. And I think we did.”

The band also plans to release a special visualizer video to accompany the remix, along with a limited-edition vinyl pressing later this fall.

With the upcoming remix of “Too Mean to Die,” Accept is proving once again that their brand of metal is not only enduring but evolving — still relevant, still loud, and still, as Hoffmann puts it, “too mean to die.”
